Guess What My Mental Age Is

May. 21st, 2007 | 11:49 am

I had this e-mail conversation with Sam last week:

Me: Party at our place on Friday 1 June - its Steve's last night.

Sam: Ohhh don't know if I can make that! I had plans to sit at home by myself and do nothing!

Me: Can I join you please?

Sam: Oh I don't know. I was really looking forward to feeling blue like I have no friends and then crying myself to sleep in the foetal position…

Me: Fine. Be like that then. I didn't want to hang out with you anyway. *sob*

Sam: Christ. Do I have to do everything? Fine. Well I don't want you to ruin my evening of solitude and contemplation (suicide contemplation that is) so I guess I will come to your stupid party. You know I don't drink right?

Me: Geez, don't come if you are going to be like that. What the hell is up with you and your attitude? You on the rag or something? (I'm totally going to get drunk and break up with you)

Sam: Look I didn't want to say anything until I knew for sure. And I hate to do it over email but…It turns out I'm straight. And moving to Uzbekistan… I'm sorry you had to find out like this, but you turned me straight…

Me: Noooo, Sam, I didn't mean it. I'm sorry, it was all my fault, I'm such a basterd.I don't know what came over me. You are the best thing in my live. Please, just give me one more chance. I'll do anything you want. pleasedon'tleavemepleasedon'tleavemepleasedon'tleavemepleasedon'tleavemepleasedon'tleavemepleasedon'tleaveme

Sam: You missed your chance Nikki. You blew it. You need to build a bridge and get over it. Just make like a Russian and Fuckoffsky. By the way, I'm taking custody of Pete. And the planket.

Me: For the last fucken time . . . its a quillo. What are you, dumb or something? Man, I'm so glad its over. You were crap in bed too.

And then Sam said something that I am totally not going to write here, and I couldn’t respond cause I was too disgusted!

Hehe, we are so mature!

As Promised

Apr. 8th, 2007 | 12:07 pm

I promised to write about Anna's wedding, but I don't know what to say. It was beautiful, stunning, the couple looked gorgeous, the food was gorgeous and I've rarely seen a couple so completely in love. Because the wedding was several hours drive from the nearest town, and because there were so may people visiting from overseas, the festivities started the night before with a Fish'n'chips evening, where we convinced all our guests to peel potatoes for the wedding feast. After too may beers we poured ourselves into bed, and the next morning started with the wedding couple lighting the hangi (traditional Maori way of cooking - basically special rocks are heated up and the rocks and food are buried in the ground for several hours). The ceremony itself was on the beach, and was beautiful and simple. A whole afternoon of dinner and drinks followed. The next morning we had a recovery breakfast of re-fried hangi and sausages.

A great wedding for a great couple. Check out the photos here:

My favorite memory of the wedding: while getting dressed before the ceremony, mom was trying to give Anna a taste of stuffed capsicum. She got the capsicum on her fork and was busy doing the whole "open wide, here comes the airplane" routine except she missed Anna's mouth and stabbed her in the face with the fork instead.

Your Special Day

Mar. 14th, 2007 | 08:46 am

Happy birthday to my favourite John. I'd write some nice things about you but there is no point cause you don't read this (and we both know that I'm not saying nice things if I don't get credit for it).

But anyways, happy birthday babe, hope its a wonderful day.

And damn you for being young.

Whew!

Mar. 13th, 2007 | 05:42 pm

So, after many weeks of NOTHING happening in my life at all, the last three weeks have been hectic.

If started on Saturday the 3rd, with a 60th birthday party for my dad. My sister arrived from Australia as a surprise, and several other family friends arrived from overseas without my dad knowing. It was lots of fun. We spit-roasted a lamb (no, not one of ours this time), drank loads of wine and ate far too much (at least I did). All the hard work was worth it when Dad said it had been the best evening of his life – literally.

Last Saturday we had my sister Anna’s stagette. It started with a family trip to some gorgeous hotpools an hours drive out of Hamilton. We’d invited others, but in the end only the four of us could make it which was actually really nice. Then a panic of dressing up before heading out to dinner at a Turkish restaurant. Then back to my house for some cake, serious drinking and playing of the wii (at which point the parents left us to our own devices). Then in to town for some clubbing before arriving home exhausted but happy.

Tomorrow the family heads up north for Anna’s wedding next Saturday. Should be fun. Will post pictures when I get a chance.

Drunk? Moi?

Jan. 24th, 2007 | 07:57 pm

Ya'll know I don't drink, so these pics may come as a shock!

We had a bit of a party on Saturday night, partly to celebrate the leaving of one of our flatmates (our choice, not his) and partly for another flatmate's birthday. And partly because we just like having fun.

Enjoy the pics (and please don't mock me too much!)

Cara and Sam Sam Sam

Kirsty, John and I

Kirsty and I. I'd obviously given up on sobriety by this stage. But look: shiny hair!

C'mon, you know you wish you were as hot as us

Sam Sam Sam Sam Sam

Look at me! I'm dancing! (and again with the shiny hair)

Yeah, so it turns out thats all the photos I'm going to share with you. It got worse from thereon in. Or maybe, better? I have vague memories of shots at the bar. It got drunkener anyways.

Happy New Year

Jan. 16th, 2007 | 08:31 pm

As usual, I'm late posting, but I hope you all had a great Christmas and new year as well as a wonderful break from work.

My break was very relaxing. I spent a lovely Christmas with my parents and we had some family friends visiting from Calgary. John and I don't spend Christmas day together because if we did one of us would have to stay sober to drive (and I'm the only one with a license) so we exchange our gifts on Christmas eve.

We spent new years at Whitianga in the Coromandel peninsula. It was a quiet (and rainy)time, but very pleasant.

Unfortunately Dad and I didn't get a chance to go on a big trip this holiday, but Mom, Dad and I did go on a two day hike near Waitomo (famous for caves - Wai means water and tomo is cave). It was a lovely private walk through farmland, pine forest and native bush. The night was spent in a great modern cabin (which we had to ourselves) with glorious views - we could see Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngaruahoe (Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings films).

Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure:

FINALLY!

Dec. 6th, 2006 | 09:58 pm

A while ago I went to Canada, and then almost as long a go (but not quite) I promised I'd share photos but it turns out I lied (shocking eh?). I've got plenty excuses (most of them bad) including the excuse that a friend once sent me in a card that said "I haven't written in a while but so what, neither has Shakespeare (as usual, hallmark is better at excuses then I am [and, surprise surprise, she was referring to my lack of writing, not her own]). But seriously, just be happy that its finally happening . . .

So, the wedding:

My bestest friend Chris (gnash_artisan, but I won't link cause she updates even less than I do [you didn't think that was possible, did you?] but also? because I don't know how (I'm not that much of a geek). Anyways, where was I? Oh yes, my bestest friend Chris:

And her lovely fiancee Christopher:

Tied the knot at a lovely ceremony in Surrey, BC.

Christine's parents Sandy and Marshall (my second parents) gave her away in style

I've never seen someone who is so obviously smiling, even from the back

The ceremony was short, simple, sweet and full of love.

The (very) newlyweds

Oh yeah, and I was a hot bridesmaid

And so was Erin, who did all the work

It was a great time to catch up with the girls - I hadn't seen them for over 2 years

Shaz, Chris, jill and me

Can you feel the love?

The beautiful bride

Last dance

and after a few drinks . . .

(sorry darling, it had to be done)

But she wasn't the only one . . .

In fact, its possible that Shaz and I were too drunk to unlock her door, but only possible mind you, this was a TOTALLY staged picture

But anyway, a belated shout out to the happy couple. I wish you all the best and I love you both. Your love and care for each other is immense, and you both make me laugh like hell. Thanks for letting us be there guys.
